6.Conclusions and Future Work

Summarizing the analysis of the process of automated raster map digitization we note that this problem is of great current interest and we conjecture that the most promising line of progress towards its solution lies in successively increasing automatization of the separate links of the techniques considered here. We suggest as a main principle of such automation, maximal usage of already exising and reworked vector and attribute information in the preparation, digitization and correction algorithms of each succeeding vector layer.
