ABSTRACT

Language documentation: the Kumeyaay case

This paper addresses the case of language documentation of the Kumeyaay language, this is one of the Yuman languages spoken in Baja California and it is an endangered language. Here we explain what language documentation is; we will discuss the vitality of the languages of this family and we will outline some proposals to continue the record to support the Kumiai community members on their efforts to keep this language alive.
