ABSTRACT
Between the 15 and the 19 of July of this year, the 11th edition of the Wikimania took place in Mexico City. This is an international congress, organized by the Wikimedia Foundation, in which several themes related to the free encyclopedia are discussed, such as, the information and communications technologies that facilitate the usage of Wikipedia; or the Open Access movement, that allows more contents being freely distributed. Based on the plenaries that were hear during this event, some matters that were discussed by the expositors are reviewed in here, within some considerations about the future of Wikipedia as well as the different projects derived from this encyclopedia.
