The
paper describes generally the problems that exist in the area of computational
linguistics. The focus of the paper is to present the problems corresponding
to the language levels (phonetics/phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics,
and pragmatics) and also the specific problems in automatic text processing.
Also we present examples of several computer systems that use linguistic
data. We describe briefly a system for text categorization, an intelligent
searching system, and a system for automatic syntactic analysis (a parser).
