Back to reality: the double commitment of researchers in local places
Keywords:
fieldwork, internal researchers, language, communityAbstract
Linguistic-anthropological fieldwork can be established from two types of researchers: internal (originative from the study community) and external (foreign). The idealized image of a researcher tends to be external and based on it there are a lot of methodologies that theorized procedures to approach the study community. However, the experiences and reflections made during my fieldwork in my community allow me to suggest that it is not possible to compare the work of an external researcher with an internal one. The challenges, commitments, and ways of acting of an internal researcher depend on their social role as a member of the community.
