Abstract

You may have asked yourself: Are cities part of nature? After all, human beings seem very alien to the rest of living beings. We live in houses built by ourselves, we move in cars, and we protect ourselves from the weather in our homes, made of resistant materials. Cities look very different from other non-urban environments. They are almost completely devoid of vegetation; their structures are large and are governed by geometry. The electrical system powers machines with specific functions, cooling, and heating systems. Despite this, cities are also an ecosystem, they have an input and output of matter and energy, they are populated by a community of living beings, including humans, who interact with the environment. Additionally, cities have well-defined climatological properties, as well as other characteristics.
