Mitigating Climate Change: Mechanical Trees and Air Mining
Keywords:
Climate change, Carbon markets, Carbon capture, storage and use, Commodification of the atmosphere, Aerial miningAbstract
This article describes technological developments that replicate the functioning of trees, devised with the intention of controlling the rate and amount of carbon dioxide captured from the atmosphere. In addition to working as a means to mitigate climate change, the implementation of these technologies also allows companies to earn profits by commercializing the resources that are extracted from the atmosphere, transforming it into a new business space.
