Diversity and distribution of wild beans in Mexico

In this paper we analyze the diversity richness and patterns of the wild species of Phaseolus withhold on their distributional ranges. We assume that a large amount of this genetic diversity is still contained within wild populations, and also in bean cultivar landraces. Fortunately a good representation of their seed has been protected in institutions outside and within Mexico. Finally, we address concern of how this diversity could be impact by climate change, and how research on species biology and interactive networks will enhance our ability to conserve this diversity at the species and ecosystem levels.
