The concept of chrononutrition explores the relationship between circadian rhythms and eating habits, and when combined with scheduled training times, it can help optimize food choices and improve exercise programs. Circadian rhythms, regulated by the central nervous system and synchronized with the light and darkness of the day, play a role in key bodily functions such as digestion, metabolism, and food intake. A person’s chronotype (morning, evening, or intermediate) influences their preferred schedules and athletic performance, making it possible to adjust training and eating times to support health and physical performance, as well as to help modulate the risk of diseases such as obesity and diabetes.
