Myomas are non-cancerous growths that develop on the uterus wall. Their growth is due to multiple factors, including diet and physical activity. Women that have myomas may present increased menstrual bleeding, intense menstrual cramps, irregular cycles, difficulties in achieving pregnancy, or pregnancy complications. All these symptoms can reduce the quality of life of women who suffer from them. Therefore, its prevention or treatment through diet and physical activity is important. A diet high in fruits and vegetables, which are rich in vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants, and consuming some dairy products that contain calcium and vitamin A can help prevent the presence of myomas. Likewise, supplementation with vitamin D can help reduce the size and prevent its growth or appearance. Additionally, doing physical activity several days a week can bring benefits such as reducing its risk. In contrast, the consumption of red meat and processed meats can increase the probability of developing these uterine fibroids.
