This article briefly reviews the most important stages in the development of two particular interdisciplinary sciences, nonlinear chemistry and mathematical biology, both of which originate from the human desire to understand a fundamental question: what is our origin? We will learn about important contributions from scientists who, in one way or another, have helped to shed scientific light on this mystery, while also emphasizing the need for collaborative, interdisciplinary work among physics, mathematics, and biology in order to achieve this goal.
