Instructional Design in MOOCs: What Aspects to Take into Account?
Keywords:
MOOC, flexibility, collective knowledge, emotions, evaluation, feedback, instructional strategiesAbstract
This article aims to show the main results found in a case study exploratory, which seeks to identify instructional strategies considered by the pedagogical teams of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, UNAM, (National Autonomous University of Mexico) and the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia, UNED, (National University of Distance Education) in Spain, for the design of seven massive courses open online (MOOC) implemented in Coursera and MiridaX.
Four instructional aspects, which were used for the development of the research were identified: flexibility, collective knowledge, emotions and evaluation-feedback. The results showed that strategies related to flexibility were partially used to privileging the linear navigation courses. On the other hand, the majority of the members of the pedagogical teams employed learning community organization strategies, while the generation were little used. The emotional aspect was taken into account, however it was noticed that its use is not yet generalized in both University contexts. Finally, in relation to the strategies of evaluation and feedback is recommended to strengthen the training of participants to perform a constructive feedback.
