The kingdom of fungi is composed of eukaryotic heterotrophic organisms possessing a variety of structures, functions, growth forms, and lifestyles; its more than 1.5 million of members impacting positively or negatively to all forms of life and, therefore, to all ecosystems. Fungi are organisms that have unique qualities among all living creatures. These capabilities create a harmful or beneficial impact on human activity due to its use in several important points in history. These organisms are used in food processing or production of antibiotics. However they have caused diseases in plants and animals, providing a constant challenge in the areas of research, diagnosis, treatment and control. It is by this that fungi have performed an important role in the development and human prosperity.
