Web 2.0 and its Services as Tools in the Educational Environment of the 21st Century

The impact of new technologies in education represents a challenge in the process of teaching and learning at all educational levels, from the technological management to the use in exchange, search and diffusion of information. Having the necessary knowledge for proper handling ensures an interactive and dynamic educational process attached to the competences and current requirements.
The possibilities currently offered by Web requires updated, innovative and critical teachers to apply in a responsible and critical manner its potential in the daily work in the classroom increasing the possibilities of success in the teaching and learning process.
This article describes the functions and applications of Web 2.0 emphasizing in the use of social network as one of the most used services, as well as their advantages and disadvantages in the educational environment.
