This article covers a brief summary of the origin, creation and existence of gendes, a Mexican civil society’s organization meant to foster gender equality work with men. It begins by recounting the structural factors that create the Macho culture as a historical issue, thus justifying the creation of this intervention initiative. We will learn about its institutional structure and the methodologies sustaining its work, and we will break down various strategies used to reach its goals. Finally, this text ends by exploring some challenges encountered throughout the development of this initiative, that are also reasons to continue, in order to involve men in the effective achievement of gender equality.
