Algae in my food? Seriously?
Keywords:
algae, biomass, foodAbstract
Nowadays algae may be found in a wide range of products, from snacks produced only from dried seaweeds to food served in gourmet restaurants. While the nutritional content of algae varies depending on the species and environmental conditions, they are considered as an important source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals, as well as functional foods (foods that improve health beyond the primary nutritional function). This has prompted more investigation into their effect when added to certain foods. The objective of this article is to introduce different products that have been made using algae, in addition to talk a bit about the history of their consumption.
