Abstract

Genetic diversity is key for natural populations to cope with the changes that humans have caused on our planet, such as the climate crisis and land use change. Today, it is possible to assess the susceptibility of populations to the effects of these disturbances and, with this information, propose actions for their preservation. In this paper, we present two examples of how, using a new method (the genomic offset), along with climate data, we assessed the degree of vulnerability of two very important Mexican species, a pine and corn (Pinus leiophylla and Zea mays), proposing conservation strategies that will enable their survival.
