The Sustainable cities and green jobs: disruptive solutions for climate change

Cities are metabolic systems that process matter and energy, resulting in waste. Therefore, they are where social, economic, and environmental aspects converge, key elements for understanding, mitigating, and adapting to climate change. In this article, we discuss the interrelation between the 2030 Agenda and the International Labour Organization regarding urban sustainability, through the development of green jobs. We show some spatial and demographic attributes of green jobs in Mexico, as a measure for mitigating climate change. There is still a long way to go, but green jobs are one of the keys to immediately combating climate change.
